Call costs
The price you pay for a call is set by your service provider.
However, certain number ranges often provide an indication of whether a charge will be cheap or expensive.
For example, numbers beginning 09 are likely to be expensive, whereas numbers beginning 01 and 02 will often be inexpensive or included in call packages.
To clarify how much you will be charged for calls, you can ask your service provider for a copy of its price list. If the company has a website, it should also be available there.
Ofcom’s call costs guide looks at some of the common numbers in use today, what they are used for and how much it costs to call them from a BT landline.
You can then download the guide, print it off and keep it by your phone so that you’ve always got the facts at your fingertips.
If you decide that your provider’s charges don’t meet your needs, it may be appropriate to consider changing to an alternative provider. For price comparison advice, please click here.
