Unsolicited sales and marketing faxes
If you have a fax machine, you’ve probably received faxes you don’t want.
Usually, they’re trying to sell you something but the good news is that there is something you can do.
Ofcom is required to make available (and maintain) a register where consumers can opt out of receiving unsolicited sales and marketing faxes.
This is carried out on Ofcom’s behalf by the Fax Preference Service (FPS) Limited.
If you would like to opt out, simply add your details to the FPS list. This should stop companies contacting you in the future.
You can register your details, and a ban on faxing you will take effect 28 days later.
If the problem continues, complain to the FPS using the same link. They will contact the company involved, and will also report your complaint to the Information Commissioner who enforces the relevant regulations.
If you want, you can contact the Information Commissioner directly for advice.
