Unsolicited Telesales Calls
From time to time we have all probably received sales calls that we didn’t request.
While some people don’t mind them as they may offer something of interest, others find these calls annoying and an intrusion.
If you’re fed up receiving these calls there is something you can do about it.
Ofcom is required to make available (and maintain) a register where you can opt out of receiving unsolicited sales calls.
This is carried out on Ofcom’s behalf by the Telephone Preference Service Limited (TPS).
To stop receiving these calls, simply register your details with the TPS.
In 28 days, a ban comes into effect that forbids any company cold-calling you over the phone.
If you are still getting calls after 28 days, then you can complain to the Telephone Preference Service, using the link above or by ringing 0845 0700707 (calls to this number may be charged, please check with your service provider).
The TPS will contact the company involved, and will also report your complaint to the Information Commissioner who enforces the relevant regulations.
Contact the Information Commissioner directly for advice.
